Luton Submit Bid for Adam Phillips

Luton Town have launched a transfer bid for Barnsley's Adam Phillips.

The Hatters have already seen a number of attacking options leave this summer.

However, Barnsley are reluctant to let the 27-year-old leave ahead of the transfer deadline on Monday.

Phillips' Spark

Since joining the Tykes in 2022, Phillips has been a revelation in midfield and has played a key part across all three full seasons at the club - two of which resulted in play-off qualification.

Even before that, at Morecambe and Accrington Stanley, the midfielder was a mainstay in the starting XI as he flip-flopped between League One and Two before eventually establishing himself as a consistent third tier performer.

Versatile and able to play in an attacking, central or even defensive role in the middle of the park, Phillips is an all-rounder able to put more than a shift in for any club in the division.

His goal contributions are also a key part of his success, with 63 goals and 43 assists from 293 career games a decent return for a midfielder.

It's clear to see why Barnsley are unwilling to part ways with him unless an offer to good to resist comes in.

Luton Active In Market Late On

The Hatters have already had 10 arrivals this summer as they look to fix their back-to-back relegations.

George Saville is the only midfielder brought in that occupies the same areas Phillips does as Jake Richards is only 17 and will have much more of a bit-part role to play.

With Tahith Chong departed and only Isaiah Jones and Millenic Alli ready to cover in that position, it makes sense as to why Matt Bloomfield feels he needs to strengthen to support the attack.

Elsewhere, out-of-favour defender Tom Holmes looks set to join Rotherham United on a season-long loan deal.
