Wrexham have agreed a £6.5m deal with Coventry City to sign Ben Sheaf.
Player-club talks are now underway, which are not expected to be an issue.
A medical is already being prepared to take place tomorrow, ahead of the window shutting at 7pm.

When he is fit, no one can doubt the 27-year-old's ability to control the midfield.
However, he has suffered gravely with injuries in the last two years, such as last season where a combination of ankle and calf injuries ruled him out of 15 matchday squads.
Before that, another 15 were missed through a torn thigh muscle, but he still has plenty to offer when fit.
The former Arsenal youth player has 161 games of Championship experience, in which he carved himself into a handy defensive midfielder to protect the back four rather than a midfielder that will get forward and give you a goal.
Funnily enough, his five goal contributions in 11 FA Cup ties is a perfect contradiction to this.
The Welsh Hollywood side have a plethora of options in the middle of the park - yet names such as George Evans and Matty James have their prime days behind them.
At 27, Sheaf is in the middle of his and is playing at a greater level to those already at the club, meaning he is ready to come in and make an instant improvement to the team.
With four points from their first four games, it is clearly going to be a tough season for Wrexham and one that neither their owners or the players who have been there from prior years will have experienced thus far.
Maybe Sheaf's quality will be just what they need to give themselves breathing space as they aim to establish themselves as a solid Championship club.
