Has Mason Saved His Job? West Brom Comeback From 2-0 Down To Win 3-2

Saturday's Championship action saw West Brom notch a huge 3-2 win vs Swansea despite Swansea leading 2-0 after just 11 minutes! A victory like this could have huge implications for under-pressure manager Ryan Mason, who, up to this point, has had a rocky start to his West Brom managerial career.

The Baggies currently find themselves in 12th following the victory, but importantly, this result puts them only three points outside of the play-off places. Mason will be wishing for this victory to be a turning point for him as manager after a tough few months.

It took a Jason Molumby 85th-minute winner to seal all three points for the Baggies. Zan Vipotnik and Ethan Galbraith were the two early scorers for the away side as West Brom went into half-time at 2-0 down, but after some strong words from Mason and co. in the dressing room, West Brom came out into the second half firing.

Norwegian Aune Heggebo clearly had a point to prove at halftime, as he scored a brace with goals in the 47th and 52nd minutes, goals which marked 5 goals in his last 4 games! It was then an agonising half hour wait to find out who would be taking the points but, thanks to Molumby's cool head from the spot, it was West Brom and Mason who took home a hugely important three points.

The players definitely seem to still be fighting for Mason; they haven't given up hope and belief in him despite his inconsistent start to life as head coach - Swansea, on the other hand, need to start picking up points, as they currently find themselves in 21st, just outside the relegation zone.

West Brom's next few fixtures will no doubt be key for Ryan Mason. QPR are the Baggies' next opponents, and they sit just one place below West Brom in 13th. If West Brom can come away with a win, then Mason will have relieved much of the pressure he has found himself under in recent weeks.

However, a loss could create severe problems for the young manager; he would be under a lot more pressure, and discussions of sacking him would not be too far from the minds of the board members.

After the QPR game, things don't get any easier for West Brom, with Southampton, Sheffield United and Hull City all back to back.

This run will be a huge test for West Brom, and if Mason makes it through this run relatively unscathed, then he will almost certainly keep his job. The Championship is such a tight league with fixtures coming thick and fast; anything can happen. Will Mason turn it around? I think the jury is still out for the lad, but if he makes it through these fixtures with a few big results, then I would definitely believe that he is the right man for the job.
