The Premier League has been considered the best league in the world for a long period now and with that title comes some very good football and amazing goals. There have definitely been some amazing goals over the period that the league has existed and today we will have a look into some of them and list the 10 most iconic Premier League goals ever.
While an amazing goal, there have been more technical goals or better goals scored in the league, however, you have to look at what happened after that goal was scored. The year was 2016 and Spurs and Leicester found themselves in a title race. In the 36th game week of the Premier League high flying Tottenham found themselves playing at Stamford Bridge in a game later dubbed ‘the battle of the bridge’ where they would take an early 2-0 lead with goals from Kane and Son. Then in the 58th minute Garry Cahill made it 2-1 after a header from a corner. Then in the 83rd minute, the magician took the ball from deep beating 2 men before laying it off for a 1-2 with Costa and as he received the ball back, he shot. Finding the top corner making it 2-2, this goal crowed Leicester City the winners of the league. This is why this goal is on here, Leicester is an iconic team to win the league just because of how unlikely it was to happen, and Hazard scoring that goal to push them over, he has a spot for that.
This one might be an unpopular choice, but he has arguably the best bicycle-kick in Prem history based off technique. After a long ball from Lindelof, Rashford and United found themselves attacking down the right-hand side Rashford lays the ball off to Dalot who puts in a cross that was decently behind Garnacho who had to drop back to near the edge of the Everton box. However, what he did after that no one expected as he would not turn around but instead attempt a bicycle-kick that shot off his foot and go into the right-hand side of the goal. The fact he was running backwards, and the distance places him on this list and as time goes on this goal will be remembered as one of the most iconic bicycle-kicks in Prem history.

Possibly the worst goal scored on the list based off of technique, but once again like Hazard, it was the moment that had to allow this to be placed on this list. Final game of the season, City in a title race with bitter rivals United and who had won their game vs Sunderland. City take the lead however, come the 70 minute, find themselves 2-1 down before sub Dzeko scores to make it 2-2, still not enough for City and that’s when Aguero steps up. Balotelli plays the ball into the striker in the QPR box before he slots his shot in making it 3-2 and for the first time crowning City league champions. With this goal comes the single most iconic Premier League commentary of all time if not the most famous commentary of all time. It had to be here.

Talk about strange goals and this one has to be here. Hull have a corner and swing the ball into Leicester’s box where they have an attempt at goal where Schmeichel is forced into a very good save before the ball finds itself in the back of the net, not from a back post tap in, but instead from 2 Hull players having the same idea, Abel Hernandez and Adama Diomande both went for the same thing at the same time, a bicycle-kick. Both players looked like they made contact of the ball with Diomande running off and celebrating looking like he had gotten the deciding contact on the ball, however, the goal was ultimately given to Hernandez one of the strangest and most iconic ever scored.
One of the greatest and most iconic goals ever scored in Prem history. Newcastle had a throw-in in the dying minutes of the game that was taken long towards Shola Ameobi who took a touch before it bounced to Cisse who took no time to take a touch and had no hesitation to just smash the ball with the outside of his boot. The shot bent looking like it was going to bend around the goal, however, ended up curling into the top right-hand corner of Petr Cech’s goal cementing itself as one of the most iconic goals ever scored.

The greatest team goal in league history and a goal that truly embraced Arsene Wenger. Arsenal managed to win the ball back in their half before Wilshere started the attack with a ball out towards Santi Cazorla who played a 1-2 with him before Wilshere flicked the ball off the Oliver Giroud, who flicked it part the Norwich defence back to Wilshere who slotted the ball into the back of the net. One of the greatest passing goals ever seen in the league and the level of the passes and fluidity of the goal deserves a spot on this list.
One of the best strikers the league has ever seen, and he scored one of the best and most iconic goals not only of his career, but in the history of the Prem. Jose Enrique spotted Suarez making the run from deep and decided to try a long range pass where Suarez would bring the ball down with his chest in Newcastle’s box before faking a shot and sitting down the keeper ending the move with a simple shot into an empty net. The ability shown for this goal was different and it truly showed everyone just how world class Suarez was.
One of the most iconic goals scored by one of the most iconic teams ever seen in the league. Bergkamp would pick up the ball in his own half before sending a pass out wide to Robert Pires who would drive forward into the Newcastle has before sending a powerful pass towards Bergkamp. The ball was just behind him but that didn’t just the outcome, the magician took the pass and flicked the ball up and around the Newcastle defender who had got tight to his man only to see Bergkamp spin the opposite direction to where the ball was going, he would then take the ball down before slotting it in. This goal is what the Prem is about, pure talent and ability and shows where the original magician was and what others in the future were looking up to. Truly iconic and deserves is place here.
If Garnacho’s wasn’t in your opinion the best Prem bicycle-kick of all time, this one should be. The occasion, the player, the goal, everything was perfect. The Manchester Derby and United were looking to win and keep the dominance, and Rooney agreed with this. United were going down the wing with Nani who would put a ball into the box. The ball was bending and high, finding Rooney towards the back post. He would leap and shoot. Not with a header, but the most iconic overhead kick of all time. You would see him stutter his run and start to turn before slamming the ball into the back of the net. Everything about this goal is iconic, the players, the stadium, the game, the celebration. It is perfect.

So, what does place above that goal? One of the greatest goals ever scored in the Prem and one that will go down in history forever. Well, there is one, and it’s from a man who has many iconic goals; however, this might just be the most iconic of them as well as his first.
Who else could be number one other than the man who introduced the knuckle ball to the league. The man who went on to become one of if not the greatest player of all time. Imagine this, the middle of the pitch, 25 yards out, 4 strides back, him and Rooney stood over the ball, but it looks like he’s the one always destined to take it. He runs up and smashes it. The ball doesn’t move, from strike to goal, it is an arrow, always heading for that top corner. Everything about this goal is iconic, the player, the team, the strike. While Rooney’s is iconic and definitely one of the most, this is the most iconic goal in the history of the Premier League.
