Middlesbrough did batter Leeds United in the League Cup. Although they were playing against only three Leeds players that started in the previous Championship game, the victory was another sign of strength for Michael Carrick’s side. They won 3-0 and have had all of their goals scored so far this season by different players (Luke Ayling, Anfernee Dijksteel, Delano Burgzorg, Emmanuel Latte Lath).
Derby County are currently the new boys in the Championship, after they won League One promotion last season. Their return to the second-tier hasn’t been too glamorous, after a 4-2 opening day defeat to Blackburn Rovers. In that fixture, Derby did not look capable, and did not give a good first impression on their return.
The away side this weekend have also had a very strong pre-season. They only lost once, whilst winning on four occasions.
The only negative to Middlesbrough this weekend is the fact that they’re away. However, we don’t see that being a strong enough factor against a very strong Middlesbrough right now.
In their opening game of the season, Middlesbrough wiped the floor with Swansea City. Although they only won 1-0, they took 19 attempts on goal compared to three from the opposition.
We’re backing Middlesbrough to win this game, which through our bookmakers, returns some comfortable odds of 21/20. A £10 stake on this bet would see a return of £20.50 if successful.
